CCIE is not easy whether it is written or lab. Passing a written exam is a
passport to sit for a lab. CCIE written covers all the concepts. Most of the
questions are scenario based which requires thinking. Question related to
AD distance, I got it wrong. The way questions are put forward in CCIE written
is different from CCNP. CCNP I think is more memorization, where as CCIE
written requires analytical thinking. If it that easy, then there might be more
than 100,000 CCIE. Ooh yes, if you purchase practice test  then I am sure it is
easy ;)

When I studied for CCIE, I started with the "Routing First Step". Good
foundation book, similar to college freshman or junior level book. I think Jeff
Doyles book is more than enough to study for Routing and multicast section. For
Switching, I would read Cisco website or LAN Switching by Clark Kennedy

No offense taken about either, whatsoever! We all make mistakes from
time to time, I probably made a mistake claiming that something easy,
when it clearly is not.

I'm sure that brain surgeons would say that brain surgery is a breeze,
yet so many of us would disagree. It was wrong on my end. I *will*
apologize for that :-).

Now, get back to the easy stuff ;-)

Marko,

I also respect you, dont get me wrong. But i will say that its very
detriment to the study progress of your paying students to say something is
easy. My written was V3, and i can clearly say that there are technologies
being tested in a different fashion than on CCNP exams. Look at it from our
point of view. I purchased a service from IPexpert (the BLS), to use for the
entire path from CCNP -> CCIE. I failed the written once, and am now being
told that the exam was easy and that it should have been a breeze. Okay, so
now i must say my motivation to keep at it is at an all time low.

I still think that CCIE written is easier than any CCNP exam - due to
breadth vs depth like I said earlier....

If someone said to me "I bet you $100 to sit a Cisco exam of your
choice above CCNA level, pass you get $100, fail you give me $100" I
would choose a CCIE written for that reason.  Others may choose
differently as they may be an expert in a particular field or for
whatever other reason...  But thats my opinion...

Maybe because with my job I need to stand in front of people and talk
about all sorts of things and know the answer to any question I get...
Everyone's different.

Cheers,
Matt

Obviously with your current status (CCIE certified), you have gone through
the motions to become a CCIE. Look at it from our point of view, not having
made it to the top yet. Then it might be alot harder than you make it out to
be.

I'm also a Cisco instructor with those same requirements and have
passed many Cisco exams, CCIE written included.  However, I can see
how some people who become CCIE forget where they came from and what
it was like when they started.

This forum isn't about bragging how easy it is for you, it's about
bolstering those that are still chasing the prize.  Maybe this forum
could use a little less CCIE input, except for those that still know
how to relate to the realities of those newer than you are going
through.
