While I understand SPT in general, I can't seem to figure out why the solution guide says to change SPT cost on Cat3, port Po34, from 12 to 5:
int po34 spanning-tree cost 5 Cat3 is the root, so calculation from Cat2 would only take cumulative cost of the outgoing interfaces (cat2 interface po24 + cat4 interface po34).
