Hello All,

10.20 Area 0 connections need to be authenticated. The password "IPexpert"
should be used unless otherwise specified.

First question is regarding adding authentication to Se0/1/0 on R6. The DSG
doesn't, but this interface is in Area 0. Is this just an oversight, or is
there
a specific reason why this interface wouldn't have authentication enabled on it?

R6(config-if)#do sh ip ospf i b
Interface PID Area IP Address/Mask Cost State Nbrs F/C
VL1 1 0 150.100.221.6/24 1 P2P 1/1
VL0 1 0 150.100.69.6/24 781 P2P 1/1
Se0/1/0 1 0 150.100.100.6/24 1562 BDR 1/1
Se0/3/0 1 69 150.100.96.6/24 781 DOWN 0/0
Se0/2/0 1 69 150.100.69.6/24 781 P2P 1/1
Gi0/1 1 0.0.2.55 150.100.221.6/24 1 DR 2/2
Gi0/0 1 0.0.2.55 150.100.220.6/24 1 DR 2/2

Second question is what is the rationale for not adding authentication to the
Catalyst connections (The Catalyst are in Area 0, no?), and as a result, Fa0/0
on R8?

R8(config-router)#do sh ip ospf i b
Interface PID Area IP Address/Mask Cost State Nbrs F/C
Gi0/1 2 0 150.100.81.8/24 1 DR 0/0
Tu1 1 0 1.1.1.2/30 11111 P2P 0/0
Se0/0/0 1 78 150.100.78.8/24 781 P2P 1/1
Gi0/0 1 200 100.100.200.8/24 1 BDR 1/1
