Hi all, In my prep for CCIE Written, I've taken a couple practice test and I'm getting a little frustrated about MED vs AS_Path. When would you use one over the other? I've seen questions like "You have two routers running BGP to two different ISPs.You wish to influence the way traffic comes into your network but your company policy prohibits the use of BGP Communities. What's the best way to influence this traffic". I selected "AS_Path Prepending". It was marked wrong with an explanation that it would require BGP Communities to be used and I should use MED. I completely disagree with that. AS_Path comes before MED in the BGP order of operations and it would accomplish the same end result. I've seen other similar questions in other tests that say AS_Path is the best option.
Is there a rule of thumb when to use AS_Path vs MED? Thanks! P.S. Finally scheduled the Exam... 1-13-11 is the big day. Any advice on how to prepare during the final week?
