It should and it shouldn't... :-) Some things need to be left for
self-study and exploration. The requirement that ports must be trunks
is one of the basics of the VTP operation. Basic concept such as that
is not something that CCIE Lab training material necessarily needs to
cover. It is also very hardware dependent behavior - Cat 3560 is
"dynamic auto" and Cat 3550 is "dynamic desirable". Behavior will
differ, depending what equipment you use.

OK, I see. This is what I should get used to during my lab study. :-)

Remember - troubleshooting is part of the exam! It's best that you
learn how to troubleshoot as early as possible in your studies. If it
becomes part of your thinking process, that part will be a breeze!

MD5 digest is the digest of the database contents - not the password!
I think I need to blog this :-)

** Not only the password ** :-)
MD5 digest is a digest on the vlan.dat file which contain the vtp settings
(revision, mode, version, password) and all the vlan definition.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] SNMP OID

Apologize if this is a repeat subject, but how can I find out what oid to use
for a particular SNMP task?
For example, create an EEM policy based on certain SNMP oid threshold for
router CPU utilization.
Is it something they'd provide?
I looked in the SNMP portion of the config guide, and didn't see any link to
get a list of the oid's.
Only thing relevant I found was this thread:
http://onlinestudylist.com/archives/ccie_security/2011-June/026768.html
thanks,
Kevin
