I saw the comment hours ago... I'm 37 and been working on the CCIE on and off since the summer of '08.
Prior to that I completed my CCNP in 2000 and kept it active by recertifying with the CCIE written. I just never really committed or wanted to go further - I had other goals at the time. I always thought about it but until the spring of '08 I was never really motivated.
