Hey Marc - As far as I know you ere always able to search within the documents 
themselves, the only search function that was disabled was site search :)

Just thought I would throw this out there since I hadn't seen it
discussed. I sat the lab in San Jose last week and found a surprise in
the documentation. I was able to open and search the PDF documents. I
almost didn't try since I always heard you couldn't. I was having
trouble finding something and thought "what the heck" and voila it
worked.
