Hello, I'm having trouble understanding and finding any documentation on this.
If users and groups are an SNMPv3 concepts, why are you given the choice of
the version in the commands: R1(config)#snmp-server group GROUP ?
v1 group using the v1 security model
v2c group using the v2c security model
v3 group using the User Security Model (SNMPv3) R1(config)#snmp-server user
USER GROUP ?
remote Specify a remote SNMP entity to which the user belongs
v1 user using the v1 security model
v2c user using the v2c security model
v3 user using the v3 security model
I've read the version is the 'security model' while the 'security levels' are
noAuthNoPriv, AuthNoPriv, & AuthPriv. The versions 1 & 2 only support
noAuthNoPriv. But, I've never seen examples using 1 or 2 with groups and users
before. Would this syntax offer any benefit: snmp-server view VIEW iso included
snmp-server group GROUP v1 read VIEW
snmp-server user USER GROUP v1 over this: snmp-server view VIEW iso
includedsnmp-server community PUBLIC view VIEW ro Thanks a lot for your input!
Brandon
