Joe,

Not sure if you meant that you can't connect by VTY at all, but if you can, 
then via a fresh VTY session, type:

# clear line con 0

Unless you've explicitly ACL'd yourself out of VTY or forgotten 
username/password, you should be able to connect to your switch assuming that 
it is successfully able to connect to google dns.

As a side note, it's interesting that session doesn't drop on its own. I enter 
the same command from an IOS device--in my case, an autonomous AP--and after 
about 2 seconds google drops me and I return to the shell prompt:

#connect 8.8.8.8 53
Trying 8.8.8.8, 53 ... Open

[Connection to 8.8.8.8 closed by foreign host]

It's a console connection. Currently don't have a VTY connection (long
story) and I don't want to bounce the switch if I can avoid it.

It seems to me there must be some DNS key combo or command to kill the session.
