Thanks Marc, thanks Marco! I appreciate the quick response.

I’ve been studying up on this and one of our Vol3 labs (Serial interface) had
commands such as “ppp ipcp/lcp predictive” (I’ve sorta memorized this). I’ve
seen some configurations using “dialer persistent”, etc. The ambiguity that I
have is that you never know when to use these commands b/c the tasks are so
vague.

My question is, when you complete the lab and it is graded, does the script
reward you points for having the correct commands in your configuration only?
Will you lose points for “over-configuration” (ie. let’s say you leave “dialer
persistent” out of a configuration)

Thank you,
Chris

One thing you have to keep in mind about PPPoE is that it's a distinctly
two-stage process:

1) Discovery
2) Session

Discovery process and configuring parameters regarding that for both client and
server is documented in the broadband sections of the documentation.

Session stage in IOS is implemented using the "regular" PPP code and all the
features in regard to that part of the PPPoE operation can be found in the Dial
section, where PPP itself is documented.

Shameless plug: There is a PPPoE vLecture from iPexpert on schedule. Make sure
to register for it. It's free and these and many more other questions will,
hopefully, be answered there!

Here's the link to the list of upcoming vLectures:

(I've been told a new one will be posted tomorrow)

The PPPoE documentation is all over the place and it is hard to parce for
tasks you need for CCIE exam. My recommendation is get a config template
and basic troubleshooting committed to memory and skip the documentation
for this piece.
