Yeah, that's what I discovered after some digging. In this lab that
didn't matter since CME was using Unity for VM. As you probably know,
Unity registers its ports as ephones. So the ports appear to the
router as a pots connection. Therefore GK to VM (voip to pots) presents
no problem as such.
Thanks
Chris

Chris,
The voice service voip section allows you to connect a voip dial peer to
another voip dial peer. If you have a call coming in from gatekeeper to a
phone that gets forwarded to voicemail, it will fail if you don't have this
configured (since you haven't configured voice service voip to allow voip to
voip connections).

OK now my question is ... what does the "no voice service voip" do? I
can still call from my phone to CUE etc. Does it break voip to voip
calls, but not pots to voip?

Chris,
If you want it to register as a gateway, add the following into your
CME config:
voice service voip
allow h323 to h323
allow h323 to sip
That will fix it for you.

When I register CME to a GK it registers as a type of H323-GW:
Pod12-HQ-RTR#sh gatekeeper endpoints

I have a requirement for it ro register as a VOIP-GW. Is this possible
or is it a typo in my lab scenario?
