Today I had my first ever voice proctor lab session which unfortunately didn’t go well. I was working on V3 voice “pod 31” which had lot of issues. 80 minutes into the session I submitted online after hours support request but NO one has responded to me s o far, hence my post here

1) I started from Lab 1A intial config and 10 minutes into the session I realized that frame relay was not up. My understanding was ospf and frame relay would be pre-configured for all lab scenarios however that was not the case. I spent good part of hour troubleshooting frame relay configuration but couldn’t fix it. Confi guration looks all good on HQ, BR1, BR2 and PSTN-WAN RTR but it stil l wouldn’t come up which suggest to me it might be a layer 1 issue. I also loaded initial and final configs for Lab1A, Lab1B, Lab2A and frame relay was not up in any of the labs!!!

2) Output of “show ip ospf nei” on HQ-RTR didn’t look correct. Instead of showing adjacent devices as BR1 Serial interface (10.10.111.2) and BR2 serial interface (10.10.112.2), it had below configuration

***********************************************************

Neighbor ID Pri State Dead Time Address Interface

10.10.100.2 1 2WAY/DROTHER 00:00:31 10.10.100.2 FastEthernet0/0.10

10.10.105.131 255 FULL/BDR 00:00:35 10.10.100.7 FastEthernet0/0.10

10.10.105.231 254 FULL/DR 00:00:36 10.10.100.8 FastEthernet0/0.10

*************************************************************

3) As per topology diagram and lab table “HQ-Ph1” should be 7960 SCCP but I found 7960 SIP instead attached to HQ-3750. The prob lem with 7960 SIP is that it doesn’t have “auto answer” configuration option available under DN page hence I couldn’t make a test call from my IP Blue to “HQ-Ph1”.

4) I had too many issues with “load config” feature.

· For instance I loaded “Lab1B intial config” which is meant to introduce “errors” into the configuration. When I went to HQ-3750 I couldn’t find any errors. It looked all good. But when I looked at proctor lab solutions guide it suggested to recreate “Ph ones” vlan as it is missing from the config but in my case it was al ready there and active with correct port assignment!

· Similarly, when I went to HQ-RTR (Lab1B intial config) the configuration meant to have “ip helper address” command missing from phone vlan but in my case it was already there

· On BR2-RTR (Lab1B intial config) for some reason there wer e 2 dhcp pool defined (one that I created when I was working on Lab1 A and another which was a part of lab1B intial config. In other word s, when I load Lab1B intial config it didn’t erase my previous confi g properly

As you can see above “load config” feature has generated bizarre and unpredictable results for me.

6 hours and 25 minutes into the session I notice that timer on my session showing I still have 6 hours to go!!!!! Then suddenly my vpn connection dropped, when I reconnected it came up with correct remaining time (1 hour 20 minutes)

I would really appreciate if someone from ipexpert get back to me and explain why I had so many issues with proctor lab session.

Thanks

Aamir
