Hi,

Whats the big deal, this is the new thing started in RS and as we all known
cciXcXrt has started giving open ended questions, starting people has struggled
then they started passing the lab, the same thing will be happen with voice 2,
I dont think it is so difficult task.

Regards
Chang.

I read through that blog.  Seems like it's working (except the database issues
where the answers disappeared.)

Stinks you can still sit through the exam.  Probably a time and grading issue.
That doesn't stop the brain dump people from getting paid to go in, sit and
memorize as much as possible.  Oh well.  But at the 30,000 ft level, it seems
to be working.  Of course, you will get the complainers.  Good stuff though.

No that is not the case, you won’t know until the proctor has graded your lab
whether you have passed core knowledge section. You must pass both sections
that is lab and open ended question in order to certify.

Lot of people have had bad experience see below link for details.

http://blog.internetworkexpert.com/2009/01/14/ccie-rs-lab-sample-oral-exam-questions/

See below response some student received from Cisco:
Dear ,
As the manager for CCIE Operations, your case was forwarded to me. I would like
to help you understanding how the scoring works on the Short Answer Section.
First, you must pass both sections of the exam in order to certify. On this
particular section, you must score a minimum number of questions correctly in
order to receive any marks. However, it is possible to have one incorrect
answer and still pass. Therefore, you do not have to have all questions
answered correctly, but, it is a requirement that you have most of them
answered correctly. If you do not get the minimum number of questions correct,
you will receive a 0 for this section. If you do get them correct, you get a
100%, therefore, you are not given points on individual questions.. There are
only two scores you can receive a 0% or a 100%.
With regard to the one XYZ question - if you have a complaint regarding one of
questions, I would open a case that is relevant to the Short Answer Question
“Content” so that you can discuss express your concerns about this item with
the team who does the actual test question development.
With regard to what questions you got marked incorrectly, we do not provide
that type of feedback on this section. Therefore, I cannot tell you which
questions were marked incorrectly. To do so would violate our Confidentiality
agreement. I cannot provide you with an answer to with regard to this concern.
I hope that I have clarified things for you. And I do wish you the best of
success on your next exam attempt.

If you don't pass the open-ended questions, do they send you home without
seeing the rest of the exam? (preferred) The discussion on Netpro wasn't clear
what happens.  People were saying must get 3/4 or something.

If this is anything like the RS exam (and I would imagine it is), then it will
be need to be completed in the first 30 minutes - there will be no ability to
go back after the 30 minutes has elapsed. Also if you complete the questions
earlier than 30 minutes - they you are allowed to continue on with your lab.
Also no CCO Documentation will be available during the Core Knowledge time
period. It will be available once you have moved onto your actual
configuration/troubleshooting exam.

This is to weed out people from passing that cheat, like "Mark Rocky" and "John
Smith" ;-)

Also, in order to keep people from simply memorizing a bank of cheat questions
like TK and others provide, the questions get changed/added-to on a very
regular basis.

Shouldn't be a problem though for anyone who has legitimately passed their
written exam.

IPexpert has a Flash-Based Core Simulation engine already developed that we
distribute for free for all RS clients. Over the next week we will be devising
a number of questions to augment the content we have for RS and distribute a
Voice-Only edition of this simulation engine.

Cheers,

Very interesting...few questions though

1)      This task will need to be completed in the first 30 minutes of the exam
or can it be done anytime?

2)      Let say if we finish this section in 10 minutes can we move on to other
stuff and do we need to wait for 30 minutes?

3)      Would we get access to CCO documentation during this allocated 30
minutes?

Thanks

CCIE Voice Lab Exam Adding Short Answer Questions:
Also effective July 16, 2009, the Cisco CCIE Voice Lab Exam will feature a new
type of question format in a section called Core Knowledge.  In this new
section, candidates will be asked a series of four open-ended questions that
require a short, typewritten response (typically several words).  The questions
will be randomly drawn from a pool of questions on topics currently eligible
for testing on the CCIE Voice Lab Exam.  No new topics are being added.
Candidates will have up to 30 minutes to complete the Core Knowledge section of
the exam, and may not return to the questions later.  First introduced to the
CCIE Routing and Switching lab exam in February 2009, Core Knowledge questions
will eventually be added to all CCIE tracks.  The changes allow Cisco to
maintain strong exam security, and they help ensure that only qualified
candidates are awarded CCIE certification.
