That was it! Added username and password and it registered. Thanks a
lot, Tim. The 7961 is definitely looking for a
SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf.xml-file in SIP-mode and not for a
SIPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf-file.

Registration

I hit the same thing. Since I had "Authenticate Register" under "voice
register global" to support X-Lite, the 7941 needed a username/passwiord
to authenticate. I added it then did "created profile" and my 7941
registered. Removing "authenticate register" also worked, but then
X-Lite broke.

The 7940/7960 SIP load seems to behave differently than the 7941/7961
load w.r.t. registration.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] V3: Lab 3A Problem with SIP-Phone
Registration

I am working on lab 3A and have a problem with the SIP endpoint. I have
2 7961 on my CME (I have kicked the 7960 out, because there will be no
7960 in the real lab). One as SCCP-device and one as SIP-device. The
SCCP is up and running (no wonder) but the SIP-device will not register.
The very odd thing I am seeing is, if I make a "create profile" under
voice register global, CME is creating a SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf.xml file
and not a SIPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf. I have then created a second SIP-device
as a 7960 phone with similar config, then deleted all config files from
flash and made again a create profile (I did nothing under
telephony-service). I got again a SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf.xml for the 7961
and, surprise, a SIPyyyyyyyyyyyy.cnf for the 7960!

My IOS-version is 12.4.22T1
