hi all,

I came across an interesting article sort of related to the patents issue:

A load of C.R.A.P.
"...ZDNet Executive Editor David Berlind suggests that CRAP or Content,
Restriction, Annulment, and Protection, is a catchier phrase than DRM - Digital
Rights Management..."
http://news.zdnet.com/html/z/wb/6035707.html

        Dear all,

The battle over the extension of patents has started again. The European
commission is conducting a "Consultation on future patent policy in Europe".
See instructions to particpate:
http://europa.eu.int/comm/internal_market/indprop/patent/consultation_en.htm

The comments from citizens, institutions, companies, are expected by THIS
FRIDAY, march 31st (though it appears that comments sent up to 1 month after
this deadline may be accepted, but this is unofficial).

This consultation is not exclusively targeted on software patents but
obviously it will be included in the discussion, so it is time again to voice
our opinions in the matter.

For the "software patents" part, an analysis is provided by the Foundation
for a Free Information Infrastructure (FFII, http://www.ffii.org/); this
foundation was very successfull when lobbying agains the software patents
directive. They also have guidelines on how to answer to this consulation:
