Postdoctoral Position in Structural Biology of Membrane Proteins
One postdoctoral position is available immediately in
the Center for Membrane Biology, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology, University of Texas Medical School at Ion transduction across biological membrane is fundamentally
essential to living cells. Our recent structural work of AmtB has
demonstrated novel aspects of ammonium transport in term of substrate
permeability and selectivity (zheng et al (2004) PNAS 101:17090-5). The successful candidate will participate
in the project focused on the functionality and structural determination of metal
ion transporter proteins facilitated by the cutting-edge biotechnology. The ideal applicant should be highly motivated
individual and have a recent PhD degree in structural biology, biochemistry or molecular
biology. Solid expertise in molecular cloning, extensive
background in protein purification and characterization is expected. The experience with membrane protein will be
advantage. The laboratory locates in University of Texas Health
Science Center at To apply, please send a current resume and the names
and addresses of three referees to: Dr. Lei Zheng, Center for Membrane Biology,
