Postdoctoral Position in Structural Biology of Membrane Proteins

One postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Center for Membrane Biology, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Texas Medical School at Houston. (http://www.uth.tmc.edu/cmb/)

Ion transduction across biological membrane is fundamentally essential to living cells.  Our recent structural work of AmtB has demonstrated novel aspects of ammonium transport in term of substrate permeability and selectivity (zheng et al (2004) PNAS 101:17090-5). The successful candidate will participate in the project focused on the functionality and structural determination of metal ion transporter proteins facilitated by the cutting-edge biotechnology.

The ideal applicant should be highly motivated individual and have a recent PhD degree in structural biology, biochemistry or molecular biology. Solid expertise in molecular cloning, extensive background in protein purification and characterization is expected. The experience with membrane protein will be advantage.

The laboratory locates in University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston –the largest medical center over the world. Our lab is fully equipped for all aspects of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and protein crystallography.

To apply, please send a current resume and the names and addresses of three referees to: Dr. Lei Zheng, Center for Membrane Biology, University of Texas HSC, 6431 Fannin St., Houston, Texas 77030, USA. E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
