Postdoc position available
One postdoctoral position in protein crystallography is available in Dr.
Wenqing Xu's laboratory at the University of Washington, Seattle,
Washington, USA. This position is available as early as the spring of 2007
and the duration term is negotiable. The new postdoc is expected to work
on one of the three exciting research directions: the Wnt signaling
pathway, PP2A and PP2A regulatory protein complexes, and the Toll-like
receptors. In addition to crystallographic and cryo-EM analysis, our group
is also actively involved in functional studies and structure-based drug
design. Structural and functional studies of these pathways/complexes will
be important for the treatment of diseases such as cancer, autoimmune
diseases, septic shock, diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. For more
information on our research, please visit the web site:

The applicant is expected to be highly motivated in pursuing scientific
excellence and has prior experience in protein crystallography and/or
protein biochemistry.
The University of Washington is located in Seattle, one of the most
livable cities in North America with marvelous natural beauty. Our lab is
well-equipped for structural and functional studies. With recent
progresses (Nature, in press; Cell, 2000; Genes & Dev. 2003; Molecular
Cell, 2002, 2004, 2006; Nature Struct. Biol. 2001), our lab has extensive
experiences in structural studies of protein complexes, as well as
secreted glycoproteins and membrane proteins. University of Washington
provides an exceedingly exciting research environment for X-ray
crystallography and structure-based drug design. A competitive salary and
benefit package will be provided.
