*Biological Neutron Crystallography at EMBL Grenoble and the Institut Laue-Langevin*

*Job description:* We seek a postdoctoral research fellow to work in the field of neutron protein crystallography using the newly upgraded neutron Laue diffractometer, LADI-III, at the Institute Laue Lamgevin (ILL). As well as developing their own research projects, the successful candidate will assist in the running of the LADI-III user program by providing support for visiting scientists in planning and performing neutron crystallography experiments and in most cases collaborating closely on the analysis and interpretation of the data. He/She will also be involved in the development and implementation of software for neutron protein crystallography. EMBL and ILL, together with the ESRF and IBS, form the Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB, http://psb.esrf.fr/index.html) a dynamic on-site collaboration between several Grenoble-based national and international structural biology institutes. The PSB runs a facility for in vivo deuteration which will give the successful candidate the opportunity to carry out his or her research in the leading environment for biological neutron diffraction in the world. The post represents an excellent opportunity for a young postdoctoral scientist to develop their expertise, broaden their experience and interact with leading scientists from around the world. *Qualifications:* The candidate must hold a PhD and have a strong interest and scientific in structural biology. Experience in either X-ray or neutron macromolecular crystallography is required and knowledge of scientific programming would be advantageous. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with international teams are essential.

*Contract:* A contract of 2 years will be offered to the successful candidate

*Closing date:* 15 April 2007
