Postdoctoral Fellowship in Plant Molecular Biology Institute of Biology University of Tromsø Norway
Structural characterization of the membrane-integrated plastid phosphate translocators Prof. Dr. Karsten Fischer A Postdoc position is available at the Institute of Biology at the University of Tromsø, Norway, from 01. January 2008 for three years. The position will be financed by the Norwegian Research Council in connection with the research project: “Functional and structural characterization of the membrane-integrated plastid phosphate translocators” within the Research Council`s FUGE program. The project is based on close collaborations with NORSTRUCT, a Norwegian competence center in Structural Biology, and with two groups in Germany. The main topic of the project is the determination of the structure of the plastid phosphate transporters. The project will include expression in yeast and purification of the proteins, crystallization and X-ray analysis. Therefore, the candidate must have extensive research experience in protein chemistry and should have knowledge in molecular biology. Experience in protein crystallization would be considered advantageous. The Institute of Biology has well equipped laboratories for physiological and molecular studies and has access to shared research facilities at the university. Payment is according to the state salary scale, approx. 400 000 NOK (≈ 50 000 €) per year. 2% of the gross salary is deducted for the compulsory state pension scheme.
