Jim,

The buttons work correctly in the majority of cases, and automation is
progressively improving all the time, but I think there will always be
enough cases remaining where pushing buttons produces garbage, so that
there will be sufficient demand to keep crystallographers in employment
for a while yet.  The other evening I was watching a repeat of Star
Trek: The Next Generation where Lt. Cmdr. Data (an android for those not
familiar with the series) was put in command of a starship, much to the
consternation of the human 2nd-in-command who immediately requested a
transfer!  I don't think we've reached that stage yet!
