Hello,

A question about hardware. Assuming that size and noise and heat is more of
a problem than money, what would be the properties of the ideal lab X-ray
setup (source +optics + detector) for:

- protein single crystal diffraction work alone
- protein + small molecule crystals + powders + fibers + SAXS

What would be the ideal anode (native and SAD use, maybe switchable anode?).
What about brilliance and focus. Only phi rotation or also second axis? Are
there combinations of (source+optics+detector+sample) that will never work?
What about maintenance?

References, pointers to state-of-the-arts existing systems and wish lists
for technical specifications are all welcome.

Thanks for your help and kind regards,

Klaas Decanniere
