Lab Head in the Structural Biology Platform (Research Investigator) The work of the Center for Proteomic Chemistry lies at the intersection of the chemical and biological universe ? the common theme of our activities is the systematic study of interactions of small chemical molecules with large biological macromolecules, generally proteins. As a member of a multidisciplinary team consisting of biologists, structural scientists and chemists, you will contribute to the discovery of new drugs. Your prime responsibility is to express proteins required for biophysical and for structural studies. You will work at the bench and supervise scientific associates, who execute the production of proteins in insect cells and in bacteria. In addition, the implementation of multi-parallel approaches for the screening of multiple protein constructs will be part of the job. You will also represent the Structural Biology Platform in multidisciplinary project teams. Requirements: PhD in biology, biochemistry or related disciplines plus 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting. Extensive experience in the area of protein expression in insect cells is an essential prerequisite. Experience of working in the field of structural biology, e.g. isotope or specific amino acid labeling, would be advantageous. The candidate should be strongly committed, results-driven and display a high level of creativity and passion for project work.
