Imperial College London

Department of Life Sciences

Salary scale: £32,750 – 41,540 per annum (Maximum starting salary: £33,590)

Applications are invited for a two year MRC funded Research Associate position
investigating structure and mechanism of cell signalling systems involved in ER
stress. The post is available from Jan 2014, and the research will be based in
the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London, under the
supervision of Dr Maruf Ali. The Department of Life Sciences has access to
state of the art facilities for all aspects of structural biology, including
NMR, EM and X-ray machines.

The post holder will utilise biochemical and structural techniques, principally
protein X-ray crystallography, to characterize proteins and complexes involved
in ER stress pathways. You will be responsible for expressing, purifying, and
crystallising recombinant proteins obtained from both bacterial and baculovirus
expression systems, and collecting data of crystals from synchrotron sources.

You must hold a PhD or equivalent in structural biology/protein
characterization. You must also have experience of protein expression,
purification and crystallisation for structural analysis.
