Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Structural Biology (X-ray Crystallography) in the Metalloprotein Laboratory at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA
For full position add go to: http://feradical.gsu.edu/Postdoc_StructuralBiology.pdf A postdoctoral position in structural biology (protein crystallography) is immediately available in the Metalloprotein Laboratory of the Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA. We invite outstanding doctoral graduates to apply for this NIH-sponsored postdoctoral position. Our laboratory studies transition metal-containing proteins and their medical relevance, using a combination of biochemical, bioinformatics, cell biology, structural and spectroscopic means. The post-doctorate will have an excellent opportunity to learn a wide variety of research techniques of protein chemistry and spectroscopy and to publish in prime chemistry and biochemistry journals. More information regarding our laboratory is available at http://Feradical.gsu.edu<http://feradical.gsu.edu/>. GSU is a major research university in the southeast region of the United States. The Department of Chemistry runs a strong research program with annual extramural funding exceeding six million dollars, over one hundred graduate students (about 90 are pursuing Ph.D.), and more than thirty postdoctoral associates. Atlanta, where GSU is located, is a rising metropolis that is fun to live, with year-long comfortable weather and numerous international supermarkets scattered throughout neighborhoods in the city. As the main hub and headquarters of Delta Airlines, it is easy to get around to anywhere in the world, too. Duties and Responsibilities: Crystallizing and determining structure of proteins or protein-DNA complexes of interest. The postdoctorate will interact closely with current graduate students of the Liu laboratory while running independent research projects. The anticipated work includes but is not limited to the following: structural determinations of enzymes, protein-protein complexes, and protein-DNA complexes. Requirements: Experience with relevant protein crystallography is essential. Experience with time-resolved X-ray crystallography will be a plus. The ideal postdoctorate will have a solid background in molecular biology to aid the structural biology studies. Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the time of the employment and demonstrated experience. Salary: The initial annual salary depends on the candidate's prior experience in the range of $35,000 - $50,000 plus fringe benefit. Raises will be determined every year depending on performance. Fringe benefit will be provided according to the institutional rules. Application: Applicants should send their CV, a description of research experience, strengths and interest along with the names (with contact addresses) of three references to Professor Aimin Liu at feradi...@gsu.edu<mailto:feradi...@gsu.edu> (Tel: 404-413-5532).?
