Postdoctoral Positions in Chromatin Structural Biology Postdoctoral positions are available in the Tan Laboratory at Penn State to determine the structures of epigenetic chromatin enzymes and factors on their own or in complex with nucleosomes. These chromatin enzymes include single polypeptides and multisubunit protein complexes. Preliminary crystals are available for several projects, while crystallization conditions need to be determined or optimized for others.
Our efforts are enhanced by techniques to reconstitute multicomponent complexes in vitro and in vivo (Prot. Expr. Purif., 40:385, 2005; MCB, 25:5535, 2005; Methods, 41:271, 2007) and crystallization design strategies developed during successful structural determination of the RCC1-nucleosome complex (Nature, 467:562, 2010; Anal. Biochem, 442:138, 2013) and the Polycomb PRC1-nucleosome complex (Nature, in press). Our laboratory is located in The Center for Gene Regulation at Penn State, a dynamic and highly collaborative environment which includes the groups of Drs. Lu Bai, David Gilmour, Shaun Mahony, Frank Pugh, Joe Reese, Yanming Wang and Song Tan, each with research programs targeted at understanding the molecular basis for gene regulation on chromatin templates. Additional Information about our laboratory can be found at http://www.personal.psu.edu/sxt30 . Crystallographers, molecular biologists and biochemists are encouraged to apply. Prior experience with macromolecular crystallography and/or protein expression/purification is preferred. Please send curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of three references to Song Tan <sx...@psu.edu>. --------------------------------------- Dr. Song Tan Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation Dept of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology 108 Althouse Laboratory (office in 468A North Frear Lab) Penn State University University Park, PA 16802 email: sx...@psu.edu phone: 814-865-3355 fax: 814-863-7024 web: http://www.personal.psu.edu/sxt30
