Applications are invited for a post-doctoral scientist to join an MRC-funded programme of work on the function of the TREX-2 complex and Nab2 in integrating the nuclear steps of the gene expression pathway with the nuclear export of mRNA. This will be a training and development position in Dr Murray Stewart's structural cell biology group and should start as soon as practicable.

The purpose of this post is to play a lead role in and interdisciplinary project applying structural, cellular and molecular methods to define how these proteins bind to RNA and how they influence transcription, polyadenylation and nuclear export. You will have a PhD in a relevant biological field and have extensive practical experience in Molecular Biology and protein purification as well as in either Structural Biology or yeast Biology. Experience in handling RNA or in working with protein-RNA complexes would be an advantage. You should have authored publications in peer-reviewed journals in a relevant area and be confident in achieving high quality science in to deliver notable publications as first author.

In addition, you will have excellent organisational and communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration with junior and senior staff. You will be efficient, enthusiastic and enjoy working as part of a diverse and energetic interdisciplinary team together with being keen to learn new methods and extend your scientific areas of expertise.
