A 2-years funded postdoctoral research position is immediately available at the newly established Structural Biology Group, at the Unit of Biophysics (UB), University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain. We are seeking a highly motivated individual, interested to investigate the structural, mechanistic and functional properties of enzymes involved in bacterial pathogenesis. To this end, we are using a multidisciplinary approach including cellular and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, protein biophysics and structural biology. This position will provide excellent training opportunities and networked environment.
The UB is a joint center of the UPV/EHU and the Spanish Science Research Council, “Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas” (CSIC). The center is located in the main campus of the UPV/EHU at Leioa, and is within 15 min driving distance from Bilbao. The UB is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to conduct cutting-edge X-ray protein crystallography and membrane/protein biophysics. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, structural biology or related fields, with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and protein expression. Expertise in X-ray protein crystallography or other techniques in structural biology would be a plus. The candidate should have a strong publication record in quality peer-reviewed journals, demonstrated creative thinking, be able to work independently and have the ability to work collaboratively in a laboratory environment. The position will be open until filled. Applicants should send a cover letter, CV, and names/contact information of 2 references to: David Albesa-Jove IKERBASQUE Research Fellow Unit of Biophysics (UPV/EHU-CSIC) Barrio Sarriena S/N, 48940, Leioa, Bizkaia, SPAIN.
