DETERMINING PROTEIN AND SMALL MOLECULE STRUCTURES WITH MICROCRYSTAL ELECTRON DIFFRACTION
Thursday, May 30, 2019, 8:00 AM PDT | 11:00 AM EDT | 4:00 PM BST | 5:00 PM CEST Register here [1] Microcrystal Electron Diffraction (MicroED) is becoming a critical new tool for structural analysis of organic molecules, enabling study of three-dimensional crystals a billion times smaller than volumes used for x-ray crystallography. Since its 2013 demonstration led by Tamir Gonen, the MicroED method to determine high-resolution protein structures in a Cryo-Electron Microscope (Cryo-EM) is helping researchers to understand major brain diseases like Parkinson's Disease, as well as to discover and design new drugs and small molecule chemistry, and reveal unprecedented levels of detail. In this webcast describing this new method, Tamir will be joined by Genentech's Christopher Arthur, who will explore advances in MicroED for small molecule and protein structure in pharma. You will learn: *Basics of MicroED from concept to data collection, analysis and structure determination. *How MicroED is helping to understand major brain diseases like Parkinson's Disease. *How MicroED can be used for small molecule and protein structure determination in new drug design and discovery.
