Dear CCP4 community An opening is available as postdoctoral research fellow in the lab of Professor Andy Lovering for a period of 3 years (at the University of Birmingham, UK). This is a structural biology project working on lipid transfer proteins of bacteria, particularly from the predator Bdellovibrio. We have identified several novel multiprotein complexes that allow predators to take up lipids intact from prey and aim to characterise these via structural biology and classical biochemistry. The complexes are membrane associated and experience in this field would be beneficial but not essential. The applicant must have experience in bacterial cell culture, protein purification, protein biochemistry, and structural biology (x-ray crystallography and/or cryo electron microscopy).
There is a closing date of April 9th but candidates are encouraged to apply well before this date if possible.
