I was contacted by a faculty member at the University of Alabama
(Tuscaloosa) who is looking for help in recovering files from some
5-1/4" diskettes. The diskettes are from the 1989-1892 time frame...

1892 would probably not be 5.25" disks.
Probably a Hollerith code, since that was 2 years into the census.
round holes, 12 rows, 24 columns, 3" x 5.5"
(later, they went to 3.25" x 7.375")

That was all before my time, so I have to rely on accounts by others.
