Correct, I meant the 16 or 32 track drives. There was a document floating around called 'hcdvsqic.txt' that I had recently uploaded to http://bitsavers.org/pdf/hp/tape/9144 I just found a more detailed document written in Jun, 1989 on the subject that I'm about to upload that goes into more detail by the same author.
