It's not at all scientific, but I took a photo via a loupe of one of my core boards with a cat hair over the top a couple of years ago, and the wires are about half the width of the cat hair; I think that likely puts them in the region of 0.02mm or thereabouts, with the diameter of the cores being about ten times that.
