Yes, as will most contemporary electronics, even without elaborate protection.

Right, I think there is a lot of hype about this.  A cell phone should be fine (no wires) but anything connected to the outside world (like phone modems, cable modems, power outlets) etc. could be harmed.  A computer that is plugged into the wall socket and a modem could really get walloped, as the two connections form a big loop to accept magnetic coupling.
