Hi developers and users,

now that Nightly is highly functional [1], we can generate good overview on
the correctness of CDK classes. I only haven't got the Japitools running yet
locally. (Rajarshi, can you send me the japi.gz for the previous stable
release?)

I am working on a release I want to have it finished before I go on holiday in
two weeks. I will try to have as many as possible modules stable again,
meaning:
- fully JUnit tested
- no failing JUnit tests (*)
- fully JavaDoc-umented
- no JavaDoc warnings
- no PMD warnings

This will probaly be: interfaces, data, core, standard, datadebug, and
nonotify. *: there are almost 2500 tests now, of which 3x500 test the modules
data, datadebug and nonotify.

Except for making sure of the above stableness, I still need to:
- write a human readable changelog [2]
- have a new Nightly server set up [1]

I've given up fixing bugs before this release. The CDK project and library has
simply become too large for doing this just prior to a release. If we really
want bugless releases, we have to start setup feature freezes, and have
serious bug squash sessions every few months, with at least 10-ish people
online and actively fixing bugs synchronishly. Both developers *and* users.
Don't underestimate what you can contribute as user!

After this release, the API changes to the interfaces as proposed in the wiki
[3] will be applied. Please do comment on the proposals, as the idea is that
this new API will be the API for CDK 1.0, which should be released in
september/october this year.

Egon
