Indeed. They code CDK has changed between 1.0 and 1.2 considerably, and at the same time the rendering code was started to be refactored too, the people who worked on the new rendering code at the time, did not have time to port the 1.0 rendering code to 1.2. Therefore, CDK 1.2 was released without rendering code at the time. About a year ago, the current rendering code under development was backported from CDK 1.3 (the development series leading to the next stable 1.4 series, that will replace 1.2), but porting code between API versions takes quite a lot of effort, for which we do not have the resources. > Please can someone tell me what is happening in the CDK as regards > rendering? There is some documentation in the CDK wiki, and I recently wrote a few tutorials in my blog: http://chem-bla-ics.blogspot.com/search?q=cdk-jchempaint Particularly, #4 might be useful. These tutorials do not cover the editor bits yet, though... For that, I can recommend to read the JChemPaint applet source code, if you use Swing for graphical widgets, or Bioclipse, if you use SWT. For the rest, just post your questions here for more detail, which we'll try to give...
