Dear colleagues, registration is open for the International Workshop on Open Molecular Informatics, IWOMI 2027, from 24 to 28 May 2027 at Schloss Korb near Bolzano, South Tyrol.
**What it is** IWOMI is a small, deliberately informal workshop for people who build open software and open data for chemistry. Around twenty of us meet for four days in a castle above the Adige valley, give potentially but not necessarily long talks, argue about them properly, and then spend the rest of the time in hackathons together. There is no parallel track, no poster session, and no fifteen-minute slot that cuts a good discussion short. If a talk turns into a two-hour argument, that is usually the best outcome of the day. We keep the group small on purpose. Everyone is expected to contribute in one or the other way, and the coffee breaks matter as much as the schedule. The content and the hackathon topics are decided by the participants, before and during the week. **This year's theme: Deep Learning and LLMs in Cheminformatics** Large language models are now in our pipelines, our editors and our grant proposals, and the honest question has shifted from "can this work at all" to "how do we tell when it worked". One strand we would particularly like to develop is LLMs for research data management. Beyond that we expect agents that do chemistry rather than talk about it, extraction from the literature, the open data that decides whether any of it works, and the unglamorous question of how to evaluate any of this properly. **Practical** The fee is 1450 Euro and covers four nights with accommodation and full board, the conference package, and the Wednesday excursion. Only your own drinks at dinner are settled on site by yourself. Registration closes on 31 January 2027, which is also the date by which the fee must be paid and by which we confirm rooms with the hotel. Programme, travel information and the registration form: https://www.iwomi.net/?page_id=1196 Places are limited by the size of the house. If you are interested, please do not leave it until January. And please feel free to send this information to other interested parties.
