I have been distributing the cd for Open Office, for about a year. I
consult with social service and religious non profits. I currently
could switch over 100 clients (at least 200 installations) to Open
Office if I had some good comprehensive training programs. Lynda.com or
VTC.com are quality companies and would do a good product. However they
do not have an Open Office product available OR a trainer that is
willing to make the program (yes for money). Both companies are looking
for presenter / trainers if you have the inclination.
I mention all this, because there has been considerable discussion about
distributor selection and list handling. My personal opinion is that
more effort needs to go into building demand for Open Office. With a
high demand we could have a distribution pie to slice. As one
distributor noted that a busy month is 3 cd's. A good training program
would be a big step in that direction. Another help would be for a
certified expert program like MySQL and others have. This would help
build the demand for the product.
Maybe I have missed the point entirely and I do apologize if that is the
case. If I speak out of turn, then please forgive my ignorance. I
simply would like to see my clients allocating more of their budgets to
their mission, instead of gilding or building another gate(s). Some of
us are not fooled into standing at the gate and begging for crumbs
redistributed back.
Blessings,
Phillip Bogle
