Welcome Hannele,

Sorry to hear that you have been afflicted by MS, but as you say, you are
obviously trying to keep yourself busy, and not waste your talents.

Will split my response in to two sections.

BUT firstly would you please note that ALL communication to and from OO.org is
via their server, and no e-mail addresses are posted.

It is therefore VERY important that when you subscribe and then communicate
that you use [EMAIL PROTECTED] only.
All messages or queries you send are then available to registered users of the
site to either assist you and reply, or to discuss your ideas with you.

Following is my standard guide for Community Distributors:

Please make sure that you have subscribed to the relevant mailing lists, and
follow the links for guides to files to distribute etc.

1.Copy this link (edit, copy, paste) , or type directly into your address
 bar.
Or stay on line, and double click the link:

NOTE that there is NO www. in this address:

   http://distribution.openoffice.org/index.html

You should see a BLUE BUTTON "Would you like to distribute cd roms?"
                   ..................................................
 or

 2. If you cannot get in on this link, go in by the 'Front Door' as
 below!
 www.openoffice.org
 Now proceed as follows
Double click the Downloads button on the top bar.
This will bring you to the BLUE BUTTON.

Whichever way you 'entered', proceed :

Under Mailing lists, make sure that you are subscribed to :
                      [EMAIL PROTECTED] .....
                      [EMAIL PROTECTED] ......
                      [EMAIL PROTECTED] ......

Once you have received the automated confirmation of subscription, you can set
up a user name and password for the site.

Please note that Openoffice.org DO NOT send out CD's.
The act of producing the cd's and leaflets etc. for distribution is the
Community Distributors contribution to ' Spreading the word'.

You may if you wish make a nominal charge for the cds, and this is explained
within the mission statements etc.

If you wish to be listed as a Distributor on the OO.o site, you can apply, but
please note that it may take a little while to activate.

If you intend to 'market' the cd's on e-bay there are certain conditions that
you must conform to, and you will find these on the site.

You can download the latest version (2.3) for win32, or browse for linux and
other alternatives if you need
them, by going back a page and clicking on the Download button (GREEN).

There are options for a download with,or without Java, suggest you take
 the one with.
This may save you, or your 'customers' a second download from Java link,if
they do not have it on their machine.

SAVE the download, and this will then write to disc.

There have been some problems with the iso images, so once you have
enrolled, you may find that it will pay you to download as above,
whichever versions you want, to get you started.
You can then check out the iso's afterwards.

Look out for the links to disc templates, flyers, specification sheets
 etc.
You will have to 'apply' to use these..

All web link buttons etc are available, just read through the mission
statements etc. and you can then follow the links for more info.

If you are also building, you may also like to consider registering as
 o.e.m. suppliers (?)

If so, in addition to the above, subscribe to:
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Come back if you have any problems.

 All the best

 Andy Shiels
