OK. Not that I understand (yet) how the above output makes that statement. The HP 9200i is 8/4/something. The above media is CD-RW. The output above says "speed low: 4 speed high: 8", is that the media or the drive? Doesn't "ATIP info from disk:" indicate the media? If its the media then the write *was* attempted at 4 which is within the capabilities of the drive and supposedly the media. Have tried two other brands of CD-R media (both 80 min), at least one said "16x" on the wrapper long since discarded. Media which I have used before but can't swear was used in this drive. Will try again tonight with some Memorex (probably 12x, but old enough that was the fastest CD-R available at the time). And have some really old blue Verbatim media to try, from back in the days when 4x was exotic.
