If you did know about the bug before I did, I may well critisize you:

Why didn't you send a bug report (as I did) in order to get this fatal
bug fixed instead of introducing a "workaround" that only partially hides
the problem?

Note that FreeBSD has been known to work correctly _before_ this bug has been
introduced.
