According to Verbatim's service rep their medias simply don't work very well with LG's GSA-4082B. Of course he has blamed LG for that. But to be sure I will avoid both LG drives and Verbatim medias for the future.

I did not know the problem with -speed=1 vs -speed=4. For the next DVD to write I will try -speed=1.
