Clearly this g++ command is malformed. Looking at Makefile.m4, I see this: .c.o: $(CC) $(CFLAGS) -c -o $@ $< .cpp.o: $(CXX) $(CXXFLAGS) -c $@ $< The "-c" on the last line above should be "-c -o", just like on the second line.
