Hi, > The main question is why does the system in question > discriminate DVD+RW in particular.
That would be explainable by faulty firmware which switches speed too early. But why does it work with full speed when cdrecord is used ? Especially with DVD+RW it is not very likely that any SCSI command before writing would influence the drive as observed by Tomasz. The drive only announces two speeds. None of them is below 6x. So growisofs should be unable to make it run slower. That's why i propose a test with cdrskin. (Elsewise growisofs is at least as capable with DVD as is cdrskin.) I forgot to propose a test with plain operating system driver: time dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdc bs=1M count=1000 The measured time and the size of 1000 MiB would allow to compute the average speed. Have a nice day :) Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
