This is not the same state as with the DVD+R DL which you initially reported. It is pure curiosity of mine, though. As far as a user is concerned, the answer is found meanwhile. If you had media with valuable data that were spoiled by wodim then we could make experiments to fill and close the open track. Especially with DVD+R DL you have to expect unreadable blocks. This would not be the fault of the burn program but of drive and media.
