In the Philippines all people can talk about is the shameless plundering of
the people's money by more than a handful of men and women whose greed
knows no limits and is one of the seven deadly sins, according to the Bible.

In America, we have politicians in Congress who will shut down the
government just because they cannot legally roll back the Affordable Care
Act. The legal way to roll it back is to win approval of their stand in the
Senate and the White House. That's always been the only way.

But no, these Somalian pirates in the House - more euphemistically called
Tea Party politicians - have punished the American people by shutting down
the U.S. government, just because they can't get their way in the Senate
and the White House.

It is as though elections don't matter, that what matters is what these
Somalian pirates want.

A plague on the House of Representatives!

Maybe it's time to revise our Constitution. Here's what I propose: The
House crafts legislation each year that funds the government. The Senate
then takes up the measure. The President signs. This is the present
system. Here's the wrinkle I would like to see added. If the House and
Senate cannot agree, the President steps in and declares that the
government must continue to be funded and operate in a continuing
resolution under the terms of the last budget approved by Congress and
signed by the President.
