Thanks Very Much Gerrie (My daughter in law and mother of my four grandchildren, all boys.)! Please forward my reply to Joseph (her cousin). The November 27, 1968, (Ateneo de Manila High School) Guidon Article "Down from the Hill" went viral, in the old way, when The Manila Times' (The # 1 broadsheet at that time. It was owned by the family of Don "Chino" Roces (a friend and supporter during the First Quarter Storm before Martial Law and an even closer friend from 1981 until 1984 and until he died during Cory's term.) with him as the Publisher.) columnist J. V. Cruz, reprinted it in his column. Later on Paul Dumol, based his play of the same title on the same article with the five authors as the main characters. Out of the five, known as the Big Five on campus, my classmates Emmanuel Lacaba (CPP/NPA and poet was killed in Davao like another classmate Edgar Jopson, CPP/NPA/NDF Commander for Mindanao.) and Gerardo "Gerry" Esguerra (died in Nov 2001 after a stroke during his son's wedding at the MoA Church.) Poet and Writer Alfredo Navarro Salanga (two and one year(s) ahead of us in college but closer to our Class of 1970.) died of kidney or liver failure in the late 1980's. The only other survivor, Leonardo "Leonie" Montemayor became a Party List Congressman and GMA's first Secretary of Agriculture. He was a year behind the three of us in College. The last survivor is used to and a veteran at surviving. A father of five and grandfather of four, Lolo and Papa Linggoy now writed a column for the weekly OpinYon and attends a dozen Kapihans or Media For a Sunday to Saturday. The Big Five wrote the article during the semestral break (our third year) in the vacation house of the future wife of Gerry, Cecilia "Cecy" Torres. Several times in the past decade, Philippine Daily Inquirer editorial writer and columnist, Jon Neri has recalled the story and written about "Down from the Hill" and the big five.
