Actually, I have to take that back. After I made the sshd config changes: ClientAliveInterval 30 ClientAliveCountMax 5 it did hang on me once, but I'm looking at Konsole rigth now, and my connection to the CentOS box has stayed alive all day. I guess all is well. I'll keep your suggestion, though. If the hangs return, I'll give your idea a shot.
