I've added the file /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf with: options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xffff,0xfff2 I think that the probe_mask depends upon which card you have. At least this should give you something to google. When it works, you should right-click on the volume control, select Sound Preferences, and select HDMI on the Output tab.
