I guess the SSD is faulty, even though it doesn't show any issues in SMART. I
will replace it next week to bring the OSD back online and will report if the
issue reappears, which would mean something else is the cause.
I've seen similar issues before where smart showed no failures but the
drive performed terribly. You can try trimming the drive or even doing
a secure format to see if it helps, but at least in the case I recall it
was an issue with the drive itself.
