Subject: Re: {CEZOBAL} REHABILITATION OF SILVER BASKETBALL COURT

Dear CEZOBAL Colleagues,

Please be informed that the CEZOBAL Executive Committee has decided NOT
to send any players to be part of the independence day games which are
slated for next week Tuesday the 6th and Thursday the 8th of July in
Blantyre and Lilongwe respectively. We only received a phone call today
at around 4pm informing us to send 10 players to go to Blantyre tomorrow
for national team camp, to start preparing for the game on Tuesday next
week. We were not told what criteria to use, we were just told that they
need 10 players from the North, 10 players from the South and they
needed 10 players from the Centre.

Due to the inadequate time give and lack of selection criteria, and due
to the fact that we are on our mid-season break which we had designed to
cater for this very event, the whole CEZOBAL Executive Committee voted
that we should NOT be part of this disorganization geared in
embarrassing the country, due lack of time, preparation and planning.
Some people/players might feel its is a wrong decision for the Committee
to make, but surely will you all be happy to hear that since Barlett
Mafuleka was the only player available at the time, we had to send him?
When everyone knows that I'm the worst basketball player there is in the
Central Region, people will be happy to know that the best players in
the Zone have been selected and that the players selected deserve the
selection.

We as a Committee have tried our level best to improve the standard of
Basketball in the Central Region and we will strive to improve it as far
as we can, even up to professional level if we can. The Committee felt
that to be part of this disorganization we will be taking our Zone two
steps backwards. We are moving forward as a Zone and let's not let
anyone take us backwards. We hope that every member of the CEZOBAL
family will understand our position.

We have a chance to make changes in the BASMAL constitution, if there is
a lot you are not happy about, please do let us know so that when the
constitutional review meeting does come we will have everything people
want changed in the way basketball is being run currently.

Kind regards,

Barlett Mafuleka

CEZOBAL Vice Chairman

On Behalf of the CEZOBAL Executive Committee
